Assignment: Most people think heart attacks happen suddenly, but the body sends warning signs, starting with the kidneys. Because the heart and kidneys are connected through the vascular system, conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes can cause the kidneys to leak albumin, which is an early indicator of cardiovascular risk that can be detected with a uACR test urine test. Our challenge was to raise awareness of the silent signal and encourage at-risk adults to ask their doctor about testing.

Solution: We reframed albumin in the urine as an SOS, a call for help from the body, and launched Mission SOS to mobilize those at risk. To bring credibility and cultural relevance, we partnered with Octavia Spencer and Sofía Vergara, both with personal ties to chronic kidney disease risk.
Octavia, who lives with high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, spoke from firsthand experience. Sofía, as a caregiver to her mother, helped reach Hispanic audiences disproportionately affected.
Together, they turned a silent biological signal into a movement for early detection, motivating adults to ask their doctor about a simple uACR test.
